Lest you miss your stop, most busses and trains are now outfitted with audiovisual equipment. Each stop is announced over the loudspeaker and in the new vehicle generations, it appears in illuminated letters on the display beneath the ceiling of the vehicle. Our control centre will also provide information to our passengers regarding loudspeakers in the vehicles and stations, if necessary.
The low-floor busses of VGF provide you with a high degree of comfort:
With a comfortable maximum entrance height of 30 cm, which is reduced to only 6 cm with raised train platforms, handicapped persons, elderly persons, and parents with prams can also easily enter our two low-floor tram types.
A ramp for people in wheelchairs is located at the second door in the direction of travel for the R-car, which is operated by the personnel. In the S-car there is a folding ramp at the first door, which can also be operated by passengers. Access is made even easier by generous double doors and the lack of handrails in the entrance area.
The low-floor car offers a spacious "parking area" for wheelchairs and prams.
Please note:
We always try to equip an entire line with low-floor vehicles. However, the use of vehicles without low-floor technology cannot always be avoided, such as in case of malfunctions, accidents, etc. We ask for your understanding in these cases.
Like its predecessor, the "Car Type U4" , the new subway car "U5" offers a wide entryway without a centre rod and allows comfortable access to persons with prams or persons in wheelchairs. In addition to the wide entryway, the U5-car has so-called multipurpose compartments, which provide adequate room for people in wheelchairs, persons with prams, or passengers with large pieces of luggage. Two multipurpose compartments are available for every 25 meters. The doors in the immediate vicinity of these compartments are marked on the outside with wide yellow stripes above the entrance. These types of cars are utilized on lines U1, U2, and U3. However, other types of cars also travel on these lines, which means that persons in wheelchairs cannot use every train. Older subway vehicles ("Car Type U3 and U2") have now been modified so that at least one double door can be used without obstructing handrails. These doors are equipped with a yellow bar, floor markings, and notice signs in the interior. These vehicles travel continuously on lines U4 and U7.
Currenty there are no changes. We hope you enjoy your trip!
