The city of Frankfurt, which because of its many skyscrapers and its position on the River Main is sometimes called “Mainhatten”, combines the cheerful friendliness of Hessen with the busy bustle of a dynamic metropolis. Highlights for tourists include its many museums, theatres, the Alte Oper (Old Opera House), the Zoo and the Palmengarten, all of which you can reach easily by public transport.
