Frankfurt mainline station

The Frankfurt mainline railway station ("Hauptbahnhof") is one of the most important hubs in the route network of German State Railways ("Deutsche Bahn AG"). Whether the train is designated ICE, IC or EC – in Frankfurt you have services, many of them direct, to all the main cities in Europe. And with the suburban electric railway services of the RMV, and the VGF underground network, trams and buses you have the best services from her to every part of Frankfurt and its surrounding region.

All important items of travel and other information are available from the following places at the mainline railway station:

  • VGF Information Pavilion next to the tram stops in the square in front of the station,
    At the tram stop in the square in front of the mainline railway station, Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m., Saturday 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
  • DB-Reisezentrum, mainline railway station, main hall, Monday to Friday 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.
  • DB-Service, mainline railway station, at the crossways platform opposite platforms 12/13 midnight to midnight (every day)
  • DB-Reise- and Tarifauskunft, phone 01 80 / 5 99 66 33
  • DER - Deutsches Reisebüro (3 offices at the mainline station: in the DB-Reisezentrum, on the north side, and in the shopping passage on B-level)

On the Frankfurt mainline railway station there are numerous turquoise-coloured automatic ticket dispensers available on the square in front of the station, in the main hall and on the underground level. Inside the mainline railway station you can buy tickets here:

  • DB-Reisezentrum, mainline railway station, main hall, Monday to Friday 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m., for RMV and DB tickets
  • DER – Deutsches Reisebüro, north side, for RMV all-day and season tickets and DB tickets
  • DER – Deutsches Reisebüro, shopping passage B-level, Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., for RMV all-day and season tickets and DB tickets.

Please follow the signposts under the roof:

  • The green "S-Bahn" (suburban electric railway) symbol will lead you to the underground railway station (platforms 101 to 104)

  • The "U-Bahn" (underground railway) symbol is your guide to the underground station at the lower level

  • The "tram" symbol shows you the way to the square in front of the railway station.

Travel within the central area of Frankfurt is always at Price Level 3.
