In 2000, he was appointed to a position as a director of Stadtwerke Holding GmbH and in 2003, to a seat on the Management Board of Hanauer Strassenbahn AG. He is also a member of the National Committee of the German National Transport Association (VDV), Chairman of the VDC Operations Sub-Committee, and Chairman of the VDV State Group for Hessen.

Werner Röhre has also been a director and Labour Director of Stadtwerke Frankfurt am Main Holding GmbH since 1998. In addition to this, he represents VGF and the German local public transport industry on various national and international bodies under the German National Transport Association (VDV), the European Central Association for the public-sector industries (CEEP) and the International Association for the Public Transport Industry (UITP).
