With effect from 1 August 1996, the “Transport” division of the municipal utility company of Stadtwerke Frankfurt am Main GmbH was transferred to VGF, the Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main mbH. VGF has since then been accommodated under the umbrella of Stadtwerke Holding GmbH and is now one of the ten biggest municipal transport undertakings in Germany. VGF accounts for more than 40 per cent of the output generated in the RMV.
