VGF has also been continually updating its rolling stock over recent years in order to offer passengers as modern a fleet as possible. Between October 2003 and March 2007, for instance, VGF purchased 65 Flexity trams1 from the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Transportation (BT) for a total of €113,800,000, without receiving any subsidy from the state of Hesse. Currently, VGF operates a fleet of 103 trams, all of the low-floor variety. The Flexity trams are also air-conditioned, and some are fitted with video cameras, while the remainder are equipped for their later installation.
