Procedure for those with severe disabilities

The procedure for those with severe disabilities ensures that you can travel even if you have reduced mobility. Passengers with severe disabilities are able to travel in the RMV region free of charge. Under certain conditions, this also applies to the people accompanying such passengers.

The amenities for passengers with severe disabilities are provided in accordance with the provisions of the latest version of the German persons with disabilities act. All you need to travel is proof of your entitlement to free travel. This comprises your pass for disabled persons and an accompanying form bearing a valid stamp. Both of these are available at your local social security office. The travel permit is for your exclusive use and valid throughout the RMV region, including transitional fare zones.

You should also note that travel aids such as wheelchairs or guide dogs are also always carried free of charge. The person accompanying a passenger with a disability also travels free of charge provided the permit bears a ‘B’ to show that the passenger is entitled to take an accompanying person with them.
