The Student Ticket Hesse / Frankfurt-Pass (with and without subscription)

You can choose between the Hesse Student Ticket or the weekly and monthly vocational trainee ticket

The Hesse Student Ticket (with and without subscription)

  • is available to all school pupils and apprentices, as well as to people undertaking voluntary military service or federal voluntary service, or completing a voluntary social or environmental year. The requirement is that users must live in Hessen or that their school or place of training is located in Hessen.
  • does not apply to students, as an alternative there is the SemesterTicket
  • costs 33.80 Euro (12x) per month for a subscription and
  • 398.00 Euro (purchase at the VGF-Service-Center or VGF-Ticket-Shop) for 1x payment
  • first day of validity is always the 1st of any month
  • entitles the holder to any number of journeys throughout Hesse as well as in several adjacent areas, such as Mainz, Eberbach and Warburg. Overview – Student ticket (PDF)
  • can be paid for by way of convenient direct debit (subscription) as 12x or 1x direct debit, or by way of direct purchase without subscription as cash, credit or debit card payment
  • for those under 18, only proof of age is required to apply; a season ticket remains valid indefinitely until the start of the 18th year of age. If purchased directly, the ticket expires automatically after 12 months.
  • from 18 years of age, a school or vocational training certificate (PDF) that is still valid for at least 6 months is required at the start of the ticket's validity
  • is not transferable and does not include a shared carriage arrangement for additional persons
  • can always be cancelled or returned at any time at the end of the month. In case of early termination in the first year of contract, a supplementary amount will be charged in accordance with the Special Conditions for the Student Ticket Hesse; from the second year of the contract this no longer applies
  • You must carry a valid photo ID with you.
  • the Hesse Student Ticket cannot be used in 1st class – not even with supplementary tickets. Long-distance trains such as IC, EC and ICE may also not be used.
  • If you no longer live or work in Hessen, you must cancel your ticket. If you move house or change schools within Hessen, you must submit a change request.

The Student Ticket Hesse for the Frankfurt-Pass (with and without subscription)

  • is available to all school pupils and apprentices, as well as to people undertaking voluntary military service or federal voluntary service, or completing a voluntary social or environmental year. The requirement is that users must have a valid Frankfurt Pass and that they live in Hessen or that their school or place of training is located in Hessen.
  • costs 13.50 Euro (12x) per month (subscription)
  • with 1x payment by direct purchase 159.20 Euro (purchase in the VGF-Service-Center or VGF-Ticket-Shop)
  • is not transferable and does not include a shared carriage arrangement for additional persons
  • can only be purchased with a Frankfurt-Pass valid for at least 6 months from the first day of validity of the ticket
  • subscription is only valid for as long as the presented Frankfurt-Pass is valid. Regular presentation of the extended Frankfurt-Pass before its expiry is a prerequisite, otherwise the subscription will be cancelled.
  • You must carry a valid photo ID
  • is otherwise subject to the same regulations as the Student Ticket Hesse (Schülerticket Hessen)

If you are 18 years of age or older, you will need proof of eligibility to order a subscription or make a direct purchase. For this you need to have the following proof of education (PDF) stamped by your school or training company.

The weekly and monthly vocational trainee ticket

  • is available for every price level (PDF) (german), including in the transitional tariff zones
  • is available for pupils, trainees, students at universities in the RMV area, interns, as well as guest pupils and exchange students
  • is suitable for pupils and vocational trainees who only occasionally use public transport to get to their school or training location, who have missed the deadline for the Student Ticket Hesse (Schülerticket Hessen) or who are not entitled to use it or whose school or training certificate is valid for less than 6 months
  • only requires proof of age for purchases made under 18 years of age. From 18 years of age, a school or training certificate that is valid for at least as long as the ticket is valid is required at the start of the ticket's validity
  • is issued as an eTicket with corresponding proof of eligibility on a chip card; in the transitional tariff as paper tickets, proof of eligibility is required to purchase the ticket from a ticket machine
  • does not include a shared carriage arrangement for additional persons
  • is not transferable
  • for journeys to the transition tariff zones, this always consists of the personal customer card, combined with a weekly or monthly value stamp. It is only valid for the period of time entered on the customer card and within the registered connection.
  • enables trainees whose vocational school is outside their actually booked tariff zone to use single tickets at the children's tariff for journeys to and from the vocational school under certain conditions. This requires the presentation of a completed order form for a vocational school ID card.

With proof of eligibility, you can buy tickets at the ticket machines at any time.
