Welcome to VGF
Thank you for your interest in our website and our company.
We attach great importance to protecting your data and your privacy rights. In order to ensure that you are informed about the collection and use of personal data on our website, please note the following information.
1. Personal data
Personal data is information about the personal or material circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person. This includes information such as your name, your address, your telephone number and your date of birth.
2. Collection, processing and use of personal data
You can access the VGF website anonymously, view the information available there and download it. Personal data, in particular user-related data, is collected, processed and used by us only within the scope of the relevant regulations, if such data is necessary for conducting business (for example, when contacting the user or when dealing with customer enquiries).
If you send personal data to VGF, this is done on a voluntary basis. By sending your personal data, you consent to the collection, processing and use of this data for the purpose of dealing with your enquiries and for contacting you in accordance with your contact preferences. You may revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future.
Your data is not sent to third parties without your express consent, unless we are required to do so by law or by court order. The data is not used for any purpose other than the above. We comply fully with all the provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemediengesetz (TMG – telecommunication media act), as amended.
If we use external service providers to carry out or process data-handling tasks on our behalf, our contract with these providers is also subject to the provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act.
Just like other websites, we use the technology generally known as cookies to collect data on how you use our website. This helps us ensure that your visit goes smoothly. Our cookies do not conceal or contain any personal data whatsoever. Cookies cannot read any information from your computer, nor can they interact with other cookies on your hard disk. Cookies do enable us, however, to recognise your browser on a subsequent visit to our website.
If you do not wish your browser to accept cookies, you can switch off this option in the browser settings. Do remember, however, that switching off the cookie feature could result in the website no longer functioning properly. In certain circumstances, you may not be able to access all the options and information on our website.
4. Use of social media plugins
We have included social media links to the social networks Facebook, Twitter and Google (YouTube) on our website. You can recognise these social media links by the typical social media icons.
In order to improve the protection of your data, we use the c't Shariff solution as an intermediary.
Shariff lets you use social media links without unwittingly sending your private data. Shariff is a project developed by c't (German computer magazine). It replaces the usual Share buttons on social networks and protects your browsing habits from prying eyes. Nevertheless, a single click on the button is enough to share information with others.
The usual social media buttons transmit the user data on every page request to Facebook and Co. and provide the social networks with exact information about your surfing habits (user tracking). You do not have to be logged in nor be a member of the network for this to happen. In contrast, the Shariff button only establishes a direct contact between the social network and user if the user actively clicks on the Share button.
As a result, Shariff prevents you from leaving a digital footprint on any page you visited and improves data protection. You can then like, +1 or tweet – the social network does not receive any more information. Shariff acts as an intermediary: instead of the browser, the server for the VGF website queries the number of likes. The visitor remains anonymous as a result.
5. Anonymised usage data: Matomo
VGF will use this information for the purpose of evaluating use of the website and compiling reports on website activity. The stored data is not linked with other data sources or passed on to third parties.
6. Rights of information
Under the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), you can request information about your data stored by us, free of charge. You also have the right to correct, block or delete the relevant data.
7. Data security
VGF implements technical and organisational security measures to protect your data from inadvertent or deliberate manipulation, loss, damage or access by unauthorised individuals. Our security measures are being continuously improved and developed in line with technological development. Despite regular checks, however, it is not possible to provide complete protection against every risk.
