Upgrading the tram fleet VGF has been constantly modernising its rolling stock since 2003 so it can offer passengers as modern a fleet as possible. Between October 2003 and March 2007, 65 S carriages were purchased from Canadian producer Bombardier Transportation (BT) at a cost of €113.8 million – all without receiving any subsidy from the state of Hesse.
